Indulgence at Caswell House

September 16, 2017

We are delighted to be the bespoke caterer for Caswell House, an exclusive wedding venue set in the heart of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds.

We were recently asked to be a guest writer for their blog, sharing our hints and tips on what makes a fabulous wedding when it comes down to food and catering at their venue. For those who haven’t read it yet you can find the full blog on the Caswell House website or a snapshot summary below…

Top Tip 1: Themes and Styles

Many couples have a theme and style in mind when it comes to their wedding. From vintage to classic, rustic to timeless elegance, through to the more specific on-trend design such as birds and butterflies, the beach, secret gardens or gorgeous greenery. The team at Indulgence love to hear your ideas, and we work with you to bring them to life through the dishes we create.

If you are looking for a relaxed and informal wedding breakfast why not consider sharing boards or platters which are a lovely way to get family and friends chatting to each other as the boards are passed around.

Top Tip 2: Your Food Loves

It is perfectly natural to spend time thinking about how best to accommodate your guests.

When it comes to food choice we suggest you start by thinking about the style of wedding and the food that you love (or don’t) and chat them through with us so that when we create menu ideas they reflect your personality and food passions. Guests really appreciate the personal touch. We work with you to cater for individuals with specific food requirements with loving care and attention.

Top Tip 3: Seasonal and Local

The team at Indulgence have a deep founded knowledge and love of local, seasonal, fresh and exciting produce. We only select, prepare and serve the finest dishes, with produce sourced mainly from local food heroes across Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds, and some vegetables come from our very own Kitchen Garden.

Guests love to know the provenance and quality of their food so consider highlighting this in the menu – or our attentive staff can mention this when they serve. Interesting dishes create a great talking point!

Top Tip 4: Table Layouts

Think about your table options – you could consider the in vogue banqueting style (long, rectangle table) or more traditional round tables – or a mix of both.

Banquets have a long history of serving as celebratory gatherings, creating a fun, buzzy, feast like atmosphere. Round tables have a more traditional classic feel. You can also consider assigning tables but not seats allowing guests to choose where they sit– thus taking the pressure off a full seating plan.

Ultimately it is down to your own personal style. The space and beauty of Caswell House allows for different options and we are available to offer our expert views and chat through ideas to help you reach the right decision.

Top Tip 5: Tasting Sessions

We offer tasting sessions for you to try different dishes and can chat through wine pairing should you wish. We suggest you arrange a date at least three months before the big day so you have plenty of time to chat through the menu, and make any changes if required.

Our tasting sessions are an exciting and fun part of your wedding planning and it is a wonderful way to discuss, fine tune and agree on the final dishes to be served on your special day at Caswell House.
